Kelly

 Befitting of senior day, two seniors led the team to a 1-0 victory against Milpitas in their final home game.  Katie Marsh send a pass from the right side across to Kelly Darchuk, who drove it home in the upper left quadrant of the goal.  The team dominated the first half, but made only one shot on goal as it seemed out of sync in the pouring rain.  The girls started strongly in the second half with several shots on goal.  Both Claire Marsh and Katie Marsh just missed shots.  Then Katie sent a pass from the right edge to Kelly who boomed it over the net.  The two seniors had a second chance a couple minutes later and put the ball in the net.  Milpitas had several counter attacks in the second half, but each time the defense, led by Sara Guy and Sam Li, shut the speedy Milpitas forwards down. 

After the game the team honored its seniors:  Claire Marsh, Katie Marsh, Kelly Darchuk, Hana Pruzansky, and Sammy Ishikama.  Claire, Katie and Hana were on the varsity team for four years.

After a slow pre-season start, the team jelled with five straight wins to finish second in the El Camino League.  Coach Anzalone is pitching for a spot in the CCS playoffs.  With their strong finish, they have a chance despite the team's weak start.  Congratulations to all for their grit and determination.
